View of the museum

Experience the fascination of past but never extinguished automotive dreams

The museum exhibits the vehicles of the little man from the 50s to the 70s and older. The collection includes a variety of models – from the one of a BMW Isetta to the Messerschmitt cabin scooter. Maybe there is also a vehicle that you, your parents, grandparents or someone from the circle of acquaintances have driven.

Discover a wide variety of car types, motorcycles, tractors and rarities. The largest convertible in the world – the Steyr-Zeiserl with 23 seats, as well as the steam locomotive BJ 1893 with the saloon car from 1915. It shows interesting videos „non stop“. And an apartment of the 60s – with original furnishings of our grandma.

Another department shows specifically the Volkswagen history, dedicated to the designer, genius and auto pioneer Ferdinand Porsche. The residence of the Porsche family is only 5 km from the museum in Zell am See/Schüttdorf.

Fritz Fend, a personal friend of the family and designer of the Messerschmitt cabin scooter and co-designer of the Messerschmidt „Düsenjäger“. A Messerschmitt cabin scooter is sought after today and a special rarity among all classic car friends and you can say calmly: very high price.

Fend was with us in 1998 for the Messerschmitt cabin scooter European meeting. A special highlight is that the TV station DSF has come together to film the defeat of the Grossglockner High Alpine Road with the Messerschmitt and the European Meeting. The conclusion of this meeting with about 130 cabin scooters was a sensation and the final evening took place at our castle Kaprun, 300m away.

In honour of Fritz Fend, a separate exhibition area with a plaque was erected in the museum under the motto „Fritz Fend and his vehicles“. A documentary film of the tilt train can also be found in the museum.
